Melioidosis – Unraveling the Enigma : 1st South Asian Melioidosis Congress 2015



Dear friends and colleagues,

We at the Department of Microbiology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India take the honor to organize the 1st South Asian Melioidosis Congress 2015 (SAMC 2015) under the theme ‘Melioidosis – Unraveling the Enigma’ on 20-22 November, 2015 at Manipal University, India. 

This is a platform to excite the young minds through learning from each other and help build their career for research in melioidosis. This noble conglomeration of physicians, microbiologists, infectious diseases specialists, researchers, public health personnel and global experts for the first time in this part of the world will hopefully usher a new era in the research and diagnosis of melioidosis and other emerging tropical bacterial diseases. 

It may create a network among the South Asian countries like India and neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan and Pakistan. Researchers from Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Vietnam, PDR Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia and all over the world are warmly welcomed to this academic event and to the educational town Manipal.

Twin Cities Microbiology meet May 2015



Minutes Of The Meeting Of Twin Cities Meet At Care  Hospital,Banjara Hills

·     Twin Cities Microbiology meet was held at Care Hospital, Banjara Hills on 2nd  May 2015  in Care  Banjara auditorium . A total of 40 Microbiologists attended the meeting.

·        Meeting  started at 2.00 PM and  the gathering was addressed  by Dr.Devana Jhansi , Head of the Department of Microbiology , Care Hospitals.Banjara Hills

·        The programme was as follows :

1. NTM infection in pacemaker insertion  -Case report  by Dr.Devana Jhansi
2. Lecture on anti microbial resistance by   Dr.Chandan Kumar Das
3. Lecture on anti microbial stewardship by  Dr. Mustafa
·        4. An audit report on antimicrobial utilisation in surgical department ( CARE hospital)      
      5. Quiz programme - conducted  by Dr. Leela Kumari

·          All the lectures were followed by discussion .

·          Deccan Medical College Post Graduate was announced as the winner in the Quiz and was given a  prize


·          The meeting ended  with  vote of  thanks by Dr.Devana Jhansi.

·          The next Twin City Meet will be held at Global Hospitals in the Dept of Microbiology on July 4th 2015.  (2.00 PM to 4.30 PM)
